December 24, 2020: Maine Sangha News
Dear friends and members of the Brunswick/Portland Shambhala Center,
Impermanence continues to catch up with us all. We are seeking your assistance and views of what we might do next together. The building at 19 Mason St in Brunswick, where we have gathered for almost 20 years, sold last Friday to a new owner. Han Xu owns China Rose restaurant in Freeport and plans a takeout restaurant where Duane Paluska’s workshop was and apartments in the gallery space. She has been paid $975 rent for our tenancy in January and she has through her broker proposed that we enter a year lease at the monthly rate of $1350 starting in February.
The council will be considering all our options at our next meeting on January 4.
We would love to hear from you any and all suggestions — whether we should simply accept such terms as better than any other place we could find, or of places that we might move that might be smaller, places we might store things, people who might be willing to help with moving or taking items that we choose not to store.
On the next two Sundays Dec. 27 and Jan 3, we will be hosting our regular “coffee and conversation” on zoom at 10:30-11:30am after our morning sitting 9-10:30. You may access the link here: https://brunswickmaine.shambhala.org/program-details/?id=449766
These will be two opportunities to share your thoughts “in person”. We also welcome you to attend the Zoom council meeting on Jan 4 at 6:30 pm when we expect these questions to be our entire agenda. Please let Kit know if you wish to receive the link for this meeting. [email protected]
AND
We would be happy to hear from you directly via our emails below and welcome your inspirations and prayers in this adventurous time.
May the coming light illuminate all our paths.

While the physical center is closed, our community continues to be at the core of all that we do. In order to care for each other, we are offering a variety of ways to stay connected. With the power of virtual options such as Zoom, we are able to keep us connected for practice, study, and gathering.
If you are looking for ways to connect with the community, please check the website, as well as your emails, for updates on events. Let us use this time to come together and to keep our connections strong and meaningful.
If you would be more comfortable connecting with a person directly rather than visiting our website for information, please contact us at: [email protected]. We will be in touch shortly after receiving your inquiry.
Please join us online!
