Meditation sharpens our intelligence and uncovers our wisdom.

When we touch the world directly, we discover ordinary magic. No longer deterred or depressed by obstacles, we can include everything as part of the path and play with whatever arises. The challenges and richness of daily life become opportunities for both contemplative practice and social and ecological action.

Wisdom in Everyday Life looks at the qualities of a warrior whose vastness of mind and skills in enriching the world are fully manifested.

Students will receive essential instructions for transforming confused emotions and situations into wisdom as they arise.

The master warrior is no longer deterred or depressed by obstacles, but with tremendous forward vision and strength, playfully includes everything as part of the path. In this way, the warrior is able to skillfully benefit the world.

This is the fifth course in our core program, The Way of Shambhala, which provides a strong foundation in mindfulness-awareness meditation.

This series is designed to be applied to the complexity of our daily lives, and to develop courage and sanity in these troubled times of uncertainty.

The Way of Shambhala series offers a structured path of meditation and an introduction to all that Shambhala offers. It also offers a glimpse of the Shambhala vision of enlightened society by emphasizing the ways in which meditation can impact our daily lives, and from there how the sanity of meditation can expand to impact our whole society.

Generosity Policy

The Brunswick Portland Shambhala Center is funded solely by your membership and program donations. Thank you for your generosity as you consider what you can pay for each program at our Center. We strive to price our programs in a way that accurately reflects the financial need of our Center and the cost to us of producing the program.

We have a generosity policy to make our offerings available to all who wish to participate. If the program price is an obstacle for you, please consider what is possible for you in your current situation, and offer as much of the program fee as you can.

For those who can offer more than the program price, we have a “patron price”. Your generosity in offering the patron price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price.
