In Brunswick. Extending ourselves to others fully and with kindness. Trusting further in basic goodness and daring to experience the sharp edge of reality, we move forward with gentleness , increased awareness and inquisitiveness about the world, as it is. We find that we can extend ourselves to others fully and with kindness.

This weekend workshop includes meditation training and practice, talks by senior instructors, personal interviews and group discussions. Awakened Heart  is the fourth in a series of five weekend workshops.

Prerequisite: Shambhala Training Level 3: Warrior in the World.

Sadhana of Mahamudra

Because of conflicting activities of the Shambhala center, the celebration of the Sadhana of Mahamudra will be moved from the full moon to the new moon and will next take place on Monday October 12 at 6:30pmn Brunswick. We will NOT practice the Sadhana of Mahamudra on Sunday Sept. 13 as previously announced. Stay tuned for further dates, places  and times to be announced.

Harvest of Peace
September 19th
In Brunswick. Harvest of Peace Celebration, held at the autumn equinox, is an opportunity to gather, hear teachings by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, and celebrate the riches of our local community. The day includes a welcome ceremony to celebrate our new members, an update about what is happening at the Center, our aspirations for the future, and fundraising for new local initiatives.

The Essential Heart of the Kasung Part 1

THIS IS A MONDAY EVENING CLASS
In Portland.In a Shambhala Center, the Dorje Kasung is a path of warriorship manifesting the protector principal and service to others. Beginning with an open discussion on Protector Principle and its role in society on September 21; the remaining classes will be in-depth training in the view and practice of Kasungship, including uniforms, orders of speech  and the meditation practices of the Dorje Kasung.

Bodhisattva Path of Wisdom and Compassion

September 22nd—October 20th
THIS IS A TUESDAY EVENING CLASS
In Portland. “Awaken our enlightened genes”. An introduction to the teachings of Mahayana Buddhism. This five week class explores how the peace of meditation can extend to the world around us. The class will use the first four parts of the Volume Two of the Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche as an introduction to the teachings of Mahayana Buddhism to “awaken our enlightened genes.” The class will be open to both beginning meditators and students with a previous introduction to meditation.

Fearlessness in Everyday Life

THIS IS A WEDNESDAY EVENING CLASS

In Brunswick.Through an exploration of the Buddhist teachings of emptiness and clear seeing, the meditation opens to the groundlessness, uncertainty and creativity of the world as it is.

This is the fourth course in our core program, The Way of Shambhala, which provides a strong foundation in mindfulness-awareness meditation. This series is designed to be applied to the complexity of our daily lives, and to develop courage and sanity in these troubled times of uncertainty. We dare to face life and death as they are. The meditator, open to uncertainty, goes beyond hope and fear.
