September 29th

Date details +
    Room: Brunswick

You are warmly invited to join our local community for a Harvest of Peace Gathering at the Brunswick Shambhala Center on Sunday, September 29th starting at 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. We shall gather together to offer mutual support, mark the changing of the seasons and focus on the beauty of the natural world.

Harvest of Peace, is one of four annual Nyida Day celebrations in Shambhala culture. It is celebrated near the Autumn Equinox in the Northern hemisphere.  Historically, this special day is associated with a feeling of appreciation, a spirit of generosity, and a sharing the bounty of the seasons. It is an opportunity for our community to gather, enjoy good food, and celebrate our bond.

Please consider joining us for any or all of the following:

     9:00-9:30         Light Breakfast*

     9:30-10:15       White Tara Sadhana Practice

     10:15-10:30     Break

10:30-11:30     Council Community Update, Oath-taking, and Fundraising

     11:30 -1:00      Celebratory Feast *

     1:00 -3:30        Activities and Community Meeting **

*Our feast will be a potluck. Please contact Jana Coffin ([email protected]) to let her know what you would like to bring for either the light breakfast or the noontime feast. We are not going to try to organize your spirit of generosity. Bring whatever you would like to eat yourself.

**This will be a time for an open forum to consider your community interests/issues/questions. Please email Kathy Meade ([email protected]) to identify topics you would like to see addressed at the Community Meeting.

Harvest of Peace is also an important and appropriate time in the yearly cycle to raise funds to support our Brunswick/Portland Shambhala Center. As noted, there will be a brief fundraiser. We will invite people to give what they can, according to their inspiration and abilities. If you are unable to attend the Harvest of Peace Gathering, we invite you to still consider making a donation in support our Brunswick/Portland Centers. You can do so by visiting our website at MaineShambhala.org.

We wish you a wonderful Harvest of Peace season and offer our appreciation to you as a valued participant within our sangha.

    Warmest Regards,

    Kathy Meade, Interim Director
