The Way of Shambhala was designed by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche based on the Shambhala teachings of his father, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. The Shambhala Path emphasizes the development of genuineness, confidence, good humor, and personal human dignity.

Awakened Heart is the fourth in a series of five trainings in the Way of Shambhala program. The weekend retreat takes a further step toward precision and openness. We learn that everything that arises in meditation practice is a catalyst to bring us back to the present. Appreciating this – that everything can be going on and we can still practice – we experience being awake. An awakened heart allows us to live without resentment or expectation.

We learn to open our hearts so we can communicate fully with the world. Rather than using our experiences as an occasion to regenerate habitual patterns, we can use them as reminders to wake up more fully. When we allow ourselves to meet the world without hope and fear, we find resources of steadiness and energy.

This weekend workshop includes meditation training and practice, talks by senior instructors, personal interviews, and group discussions.
