Time Keeper Protocol

  • The first sitting of the day begins with 3 gongs.
  • To begin walking, ring gong once and announce “walking meditation”
  • Hit the gandhe once to end walking.
  • Remain standing until everyone has settled in front of cushions, then sit and ring gong once to resume sitting.
  • Ring gong once as the Director enters for a talk and move to the audience.
  • Note: Announce lunch and tea with two gongs. After lunch, sitting begins with one gong.

 

Level I   – 20 minutes sitting, 10 minutes walking

Level II  – 25 minutes sitting, 10 minutes walking

Level III – 30 minutes sitting, 10 minutes walking

Level IV – 35 minutes sitting, 10 minutes walking

Level V  – 40 minutes sitting, 10 minutes walking

Sacred Path Levels – 45 to 50 minutes sitting, 10 minutes walking

During the sitting period, the Timer is a model of correct meditation posture. Legs should be crossed, back erect, hands resting lightly on thighs, eyes focusing down softly five or so feet in front (this may vary depending on the instructions of the weekend), one-pointed and relaxed.
