Ready to make your mind flexible and workable!

Join us Thursday evenings for meditation and discussion. We will start with 35 minutes of meditation, then have a short reading and discussion. The readings will be varied from different materials. You can even bring your own short reading to talk about.

The Art of Being Human: Level I

Shambhala Training Level One  is the first step in the Way of Shambhala curriculum.
We will learn to experience the world as sacred and see basic goodness as our birthright. Through the practice of meditation, we glimpse unconditional basic goodness as the ground of our existence. Opening to ourselves with gentleness and appreciation, we begin to see our potential as genuine and compassionate human beings. This Friday Night Talk will be open to the public.

Meditation Practice Weekend in Portland

Unmask: Halloween Weekend Practice Intensive in PORTLAND

Saturday and Sunday 9:00am – 5:00pm

“Entering into spirituality means unmasking the mask, and the pride that we develop having unmasked… becomes another mask, and we have to unmask that as well.” -Chogyam Trungpa

Two full days of practice with archival video of Chogyam Trungpa and recent teachings by Sakyong Mipham; led by Toby Sifton and coordinated by Erika Bjorum. Due to space limitations, registration and commitment to the full weekend is strongly encouraged. Weekend intensives are a highly recommended preparation for the week-long intensive in December.

All silent meditation practices from any tradition are welcome.

In Portland.In a Shambhala Center, the Dorje Kasung is a path of warriorship manifesting the protector principal and service to others. Beginning with an open discussion on Protector Principle and its role in society onSeptember 21; the remaining classes will be in-depth training in the view and practice of Kasungship, including uniforms, orders of speech  and the meditation practices of the Dorje Kasung.

Bodhisattva Path of Wisdom and Compassion

THIS IS A TUESDAY EVENING CLASS
In Portland. “Awaken our enlightened genes”. An introduction to the teachings of Mahayana Buddhism. This fiveweek class explores how the peace of meditation can extend to the world around us. The class will use the first four parts of the Volume Two of the Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche as an introduction to the teachings of Mahayana Buddhism to “awaken our enlightened genes.” The class will be open to both beginning meditators and students with a previous introduction to meditation.

Fearlessness in Everyday Life

THIS IS A WEDNESDAY EVENING CLASS

In Brunswick.Through an exploration of the Buddhist teachings of emptiness and clear seeing, the meditation opens to the groundlessness, uncertainty and creativity of the world as it is.
This is the fourth course in our core program, The Way of Shambhala, which provides a strong foundation in mindfulness-awareness meditation. This series is designed to be applied to the complexity of our daily lives, and to develop courage and sanity in these troubled times of uncertainty. We dare to face life and death as they are. The meditator, open to uncertainty, goes beyond hope and fear.
