Midsummer’s Day Celebration

Atlanta's_Mid_Summer

June 20th

Sat June 20th: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

As some of you know, it is a tradition in Shambhala to celebrate the solstices and equinoxes. We refer to these holidays as “Nyida” days. “Nyi” is for “Nyima,” the Tibetan for sun.  “Da” is for “Dawa”, the Tibetan for moon.

These four seasonal holidays are an opportunity for us to gather as a community, inviting friends and family to celebrate each other and our world. These holidays are also transition points that mark not only a shift in our outer environment and subsequent activities but also mark so many inner changes, and our ever evolving and deepening awareness of change itself, of what it means to live in this world as humans aspiring to create and nurture and manifest an awake society together.

Summer is a time of expansion and activity, of growth and richness. It is a time to play. The summer solstice this year falls on a Sunday, the 21st of June. But we will be celebrating together on Saturday afternoon 6/20 at Kathy Bither’s home.

The June 30th Training will focus on the view of being a Coordinator or Staff member at weekend Shambhala Training Levels and other programs and the importance of manifesting the Shambhala Principles of Enlightened Society.

The August 12th training will focus on the nuts and bolts of the weekend and other program schedule and staffing needs, and go into details of the new Coordinators Manual.

Both programs will be of great benefit to both aspiring and experienced staff and coordinators.
